It's Senior Photo time already! I second shot 2 senior sessions last year and had a blast. So everyone, sadly I have missed two weeks of project 52 :( and I decided that I just need to take a break. I just got married :D May 21st, to my best friend in the whole wide world! I am now Britney Emilie Wilson!(See some photos HERE!) May 24th I started my new job and the summer semester at college started (taking 2 classes) so I have been busy with new things, new responsibilities, and new assignments and blogging has not been a top priority. I wanted to blog about this not that you thought I fell off the face of earth ;P So I am taking a few weeks from blogging until things aren't so crazy, I really wish I could keep up with it but other things take priority over this. So time totally got away from me last week, it's been crazy so week 18's photo isn't that spectacular. To share with family & friends that don't live near us our apartment I took photos and put them into a panorama so they could see the room as a whole. So here is one of those shots I did not use a trip pod, just stood steady, swiveled, and clicked ;)And this is actually a screen shot of that photo because blogger is not letting me load the original ;P PS (photo-merge does a wonderful job of stitching photos together). So sorry to say this is all for this week but I may have some newborn photos for this week (week 19) ;D

Slice of Life @ iheartfaces

Sooooooooo, I just realized that the challenges are open for entries on Sunday and Monday now :'C which means I missed it >:/ man! *ugh* oh well.... here's my post anyways.

This weeks theme is a "Slice of Life". It was hard to choose a photo, I have tons of candid shots (I just love 'em) But this one really felt like a "slice" to me. This is my fiance and a little girl that goes to our church. I've known her since she was born and I babysat them frequently. She got to know Ryan (my fiance) through me and she loves him a lot. Whenever he's seen he gets a great big hug. We were downtown handing out free water one hot summer day and on our way back to the car she got a fun ride on the cooler ;) This is a slice of life I will always remember. I love watching Ryan interact with little kids, boy I can't wait to one day have some little munchkins of our own. :)

This photo was taken for my Studio class the assignment was "food and beverage" and my amazing fiance (who is in the Culinary Arts program at the same college I go to) made this especially for me and this assignment :) thanks love!

Sooo this is late :P Oh man I had a busy week last week :/ and I totally spaced project 52!!!! *ahhh* Thankfully I took 3 photos last (week 9) yes THREE!! With my little point and shoot :/ but I edited it and now it's awesome!!! My friend helped me out with a photo assignment (hands) for my studio class and when I was done shooting that I took a few infant photos for her :D I've done newborns but not so much infants it was great cuz I got the cutest expressions and her oh so pretty blue eyes.

Here it is (finally) sorry it took me so long. I went on a weekend trip with my Mother, Sister, and Fiance to Sioux City to visit my Grandparents and to take photos for my Travel Photography class. So I had a lot of photos to load, convert, and now to edit. This is the first photo from the weekend that I have edited, and I love it. This is my Fiance and me :) we had to follow a path to get to the location that I needed and we weren't sure if we were going the right way or how far it would be. But we found it, thank goodness :D I quite enjoyed walking arm in arm through the woods on a crisp winter morning with the one that I love :)

Hey look I'm posting on time ;D this week I'm posting a photo that I took for my studio class. The assignment was to take a picture of a person, without the person being in the picture. I chose to take a picture of my older brother, Addison Charles Hudson, who was still born.

fix-it Friday #86

Hey everyone, I think this is the second fix-it Friday I have done. On the last one I used a lot of actions so this time I decided that I wouldn't use any. So that anyone who has access to Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw could edit this photo the same exact way. Okay here we go.

It's dark, dull, and I want to see more of her face so in the "Basic" tab of camera raw here's what I did.

Basic

Exposure +0.70

Recovery +10

Fill Light +10

Blacks +5

Brightness +50

Contrast +40

Clarity +20

Then I used the crop tool and here's what we get.

Now the light is a bit intense and it's a little noisy so I switched over to the next tab "Tone Curve" and did the follow

Highlights -13

Lights -13

Darks +13

Shadows +13

Then I went to Noise Reduction under the "Detail" tab

And here's what we get :)

Lookin pretty good but I want to polish it off a bit. To start the red in her hat has way too much contrast, so much that her hat doesn't have much detail. To fix this I used the adjustment brush that you can find along the top of the camera raw window. (I wanted to make her eyes pop a little more so I used the adjustment brush for that too.)

Turned saturation to -18 and brushed over her hat

Turned Sharpness to +40 and brushed over her eyes

Next I went into the "Effects" tab to add a slight vignette.

And lastly I opened the image in photoshop to do one last thing, I used the healing brush tool to touch up a line under her left eye (your right), 3 small spots on her face and a small stain on her white shirt.

And we're done! Here is the finished product! :D

I got busy this week and forgot to post yesterday! I had hoped to take a photo on Sunday especially for this week but didn't have time to, so I'll use one that I took earlier on during week 2 and use that one :D Now when looking at it you may say "WOW she really over exposed this shot!" Well the truth would be that I did! (haha) But on purpose. For a technique called porcelain face. :D At the moment I am enjoying my day off of school by working on homework :P Psychology...took my two online quizzes (which I bombed) and now I have to read Chapter 2 which is a low number of only 40 pages to read :/ guess I better get started ;) Have a good week everyone!

I have always thought doing a "Project 365" would be so much fun but I don't think I could be disciplined enough to do that. It would be just like my journaling I start out good soon it's everyone week and then maybe once a month. So today I saw the idea of doing 52 photos, 1 photo a week. That I can handle! So Project 52! Woah, wait, what a photo entry!?! Yes I'm back, well I'm on break so I had plenty of time to enter this week :) School starts again on the 10th and with it being my second semester I think I'll have things down enough to be able to enter photos more often than I did this fall. :) It was so hard to pick my favorite face of 2010, as I was going through all my favorites this one kept sticking out at me. I love her cute and innocent face, and I love how it turned out after a little bit of photoshop. My Photography skills have most definitely improved during 2010 one due to practice and two due to school. I learned so much last year and I can't wait to see what God has in store for me this year. It's been so long since I've been able to post anything! Between school & work plus having photography assignments for college I've been to busy to take pictures for iheartfaces challenges. But awesomely enough we had a self portrait assignment, the assignment required two photos (two opposite in my personality) one was simple (which I am using below) and the other ornate (for that picture I did my hair and put makeup and ear rings on). It can be a challenge to get a good photo when taking a picture of one's self. Well I really need to get to sleep I get distracted to easily and the result is usually me not getting enough sleep ;P So here's my entry, just me, plain and simple :)

I showed her how to blow dandelions and she thought it was the funnest thing! She picked and blowed all that could be found in the yard and thought she'd try to blow a dandelion that had bloomed, I explained that didn't work and we both had a good laugh :D

The Light Through My Lens (#3)

Hey all, gosh it's been a while! :/ And I can't even make this a very long post :( but I guess the reason's not all bad! I started school this week! :D / :/ I am going to DMACC's Photography Program! :D So as you have guessed my post can't be long cuz I gotta study ;P My boyfriend and I go to the same college :D This is his second year so he showed me around and helped me get to my classes. I've been so stressed with school starting, work starting, homework that I have to do, assignments that have to be done, balancing all that with my time with God, family, Ryan, and friends, chores, ect..... But God has blessed me with an amazing man to encourage me and keep me on the right track (God first and foremost). God knew what He was doing when He put us two together <3 I love how God show's Himself through everything! :D Ahhh okay, I took too long writing this I need to study, write an essay, and work on some photo assignments and teach a piano lesson! Look out college, cuz here I come!

but being sick kept me from getting out to take a photo for this week. :(

I took this last summer when we went to visit our cousins in California :D

As soon as I read the theme for this week I remembered a moment from the day before. My Aunt, Uncle, & Cousins were visiting last week, and my Uncle would take his daughter and rub her belly OVER HIS HEAD and she would just laugh! :D Such sweet laughter… oooo I miss them already! :’(

Teens only! at iheartfaces

This weeks theme is teens only which means only teens can enter this week! :D The only downfall of that is it left endless possibilities for photos, it was so hard to pick one! I ended up going with this one because it kept popping out at me. It was hard to edit it, but I think I got the feel I was going for. Soft & sweet.

This is Beren, he is the only brother of four sisters! Although he does have his moments, he’s super sweet :D He was very willing to try out my idea for this photo, He thought it was so fun and very cool.

I’m so glad I was able to capture that moment; every time I look at this photo it makes me smile.

I think that’s why it kept popping out at me. :D

This weeks theme is “pets” over at iheartfaces :D Now the only pets we have are in our saltwater fish tank; which they are pretty cool, but I just love this photo so much that I had to post it!

This is Ralphie <3 my boyfriend’s family’s dog. He IS the best dog ever! He’s so laid back, obeys (except when he gets over excited to see new people), he likes to snuggle, loves to play, is always so happy to see you, and has the best personality. And this photo captures some of all that. Love you Ralphie!

Hey everyone, I have a question for you. I’ve been debating on whether or not to keep my blog & photography called “Arey of Light Photography” or to change it to “Britney Emilie Photography” Britney being my first name and Emilie being my middle name. It would be more recognizable I think because it’s my name. But I don’t know. What are your opinions? I figured that if I'm going to change it I should now before I start perusing photography and developing it more. I’d greatly appreciate it if you could let me know what you think. Thanks so much!

P.S. And since a post is so much better with a photo, here’s an example of how it would look.

Birthday Gift Idea :D

Hey everyone, I thought I’d share with you a Birthday gift idea that is fun to make, great to give, and awesome to receive. ;) May 5th was my best friends Birthday and I couldn’t find anything to give her, and didn’t want to just give her a gift card. I love gift cards but it is nice to get an actual gift, it shows thought & consideration. :) So I decided to make a “coupon book”, now this isn’t an ordinary coupon book filled with free hugs, washing dishes, clean my room, bring you breakfast type of coupons. This is a uniquely her & me coupon book. :) I had tons of fun making it (at 12 in the morning [I didn’t get home till 11 that night]) If I had more time it would probably look much better. But I she loved it, and I can’t wait till she uses them :D There are lots of ways to make one, and endless possibilities for coupon choices! Don’t know what to get them … make them a coupon book. :)

P.S. I made a watermark last night, what do you think of it? I’d appreciate your honest input.

P.P.S. I have no idea how or why the words that say coupon are links, I didn’t do that and I don’t know how to get rid of them…..hey maybe it’s just my computer…..? Weird!

Did anyone else have a hard time picking which photo to post for this weeks challenge?!?!?!?!

Smiles are in at least 75% of all my pictures! *sigh* It was SO hard but I finally just had to pick one.

I chose this photo because it’s my recent favorite, and it puts a SMILE on my face every time I see it.

This is Isabel, I was able to capture this beautiful shot while she was swinging :D

I’ve been meaning to put one together for a long time but haven’t had the time.

haha and somehow I came up with the bright idea of starting to work on it 12:30am!

LAUNDRY! ;) My favorite part of doing laundry is when I take the clothes out of dryer, I use my arms carry them to the living room and lay down on the couch with my nice,fresh, clean, and warm clothes on top of me. Haha, I even fell asleep like that once ;P

Well if you haven’t noticed I am posting this at 2am ;P April has been a busy month! I wasn’t going to enter this weeks photo contest because I would have spent far to long trying to decide what pictures I wanted to use. But then the light bulb came on and *ting* I wouldn’t have to do a bunch of searching after all, they were all together :) This is Emi the anemone, she lives in our salt water fish tank. It’s so cool watching her come out in the evening when the light turns on.

Don’t have allot to write for this post cuz I’m heading out the door. My little friend Noah (the one in the middle) had his birthday party last month, for which we went snow boarding and sledding. You should’ve seen all the little boys fearlessly sliding down the hills on snowboards and tubes!

When it was time to go home all were worn out and getting cold but they still had smiles on their faces!

The Light through my lens (#1)

Since I don’t have tons of time to post anything it seems like, I thought maybe if I tried posting 1 photo a week (besides an Iheartfaces photo)

that would be pretty good :) So here is the start of “The Light Through My Lens” A series of photos of the light I see through my camera lens :)

This photo is of my boyfriend Ryan and me, we are more so courting then dating :)

It’s coming up on 6 moths now, but we’ve liked each other (and known the other did) for 2 years.

But we decided to wait until I was 18 to start dating/courting. It got hard near the end but being patient was worth the wait.

I enjoy every opportunity that I have to get to know him better, as more light is cast on him and his life.

“Hands on Fun” at Iheartfaces

I didn’t have any photos for this post so when I was babysitting I tried out some different things,

I came up with a few good photos. But the one I chose to enter in the contest is one that I almost didn’t get. I woke the youngest back up to feed her, and then take a few photos until it was time for her to go back to bed. I was trying to get a picture of her sucking her thumb because it’s super

cute, but as soon as I would hold my camera up she would get excited and take her hand out

of her mouth. :( I turned my head to look at the photo I had just taken and then

I looked up just as she was SHOVING both of her hands strait into her mouth.

I pulled my camera up and snapped a photo. :D She is just the cutest!

Week 7 - “I Wanna Dance” Photo Challenge!

I think most of us girls at some point when we were little dreamed of being a ballerina.

I know I did. Why is this? It made you feel beautiful. I know quite a few little girls that

just love dressing up and being a "BEAUTIFUL ballerina". Little girls so desire to be beautiful,

it makes them feel special. Have you ever noticed that, when your little girl (or a little girl)

comes up to you all dressed up and you say "gasp You look SO beautiful",

that although sometimes you may not see it on their faces, on the inside they're beaming!

They are thinking "I am beautiful". And that doesn't change as we get older.

All women have that desire to be, and be called beautiful, it's how God created us.

So here's to us girls, and dreams of being a BEAUTIFUL ballerina!

I've been babysitting the bock girls for almost 8 years now. They are like my little sisters :) I spent the whole morning with them a few Saturdays ago we got their hair all done and picked out clothes. Thank goodness I thought to have them all wear around the same color jackets cuz boy was it chilly! They complained a bit but they were all good sports and we were able to get a few good pictures! :) And we still had time to go into the library ;) Enjoy their beautiful smiles <3
